For me painting is like air, omnipresent and totally necessary.

Its always there. Our breathing is unconscious, we can't exist without it.

Like breathing, for me painting something which is impossible to live without .

When the air is full of oxygen my painting is rich and full and flows across the canvas. Sometimes I feel that the air is thinner and this is reflected in my painting.

Just as in yoga, where one concentrates on one's breathing, I go out into nature and open myself to its energy, colour and vibration.

And in this way the painting is released from within and has the power to fill interior and exterior spaces. And I too, am filled with a wonderful sensation which I carries me along all day.

Whatever I look at: my son, the dinner table, the street, a fallen leaf, I see a painting-the play of light and colour. Even during the split second of a closed eyelid I see shape and colour.

The subject matter of my art seems determined by the  different periods of my life.

When I lived near the sea it influenced me and my work. When my children were born they were what I saw before me all the time, and in every painting they were there.

Today I live in the heart of nature and I am filled and inspired by my surroundings. The paintings that are born out of these influences are my form of meditation and are created from my immediate contact and total focus on place and presence.
